Breanne is currently a third year student at Western University in London, Ontario. Breanne is certified to teach Red Cross and Lifesaving swim lessons. Breanne's passion is underwater photography, as well as scuba diving with the rest of the family.
Louis is currently in Grade 12 in Calgary. Louis is certified to teach Red Cross and Lifesaving swim lessons. Louis has his Advance Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver course. He has been known to find plastic sharks made in China in the waters off of Honduras!
Danielle is currently in Grade 11 in Calgary. Danielle is certified to teach Red Cross swim lessons and BC diving lessons. Danielle is a double diver! She spent 9 years as a platform and springboard diver competing at Junior Canadian Nationals three times. As well, Danielle is an Advanced Open Water Diver.
Brielle is currently in Grade 12 in Calgary. Brielle is qualified to teach all Red Cross swim lessons. Brielle was a competitive swimmer for many years and loves the water!
We have had a cabin in the Columbia Valley since 2005 after moving back to Canada from overseas. Breanne and Louis were born in Singapore, while Danielle was born in Texas. We have been taking swimming lessons at Fairmont Hot Springs since 2005 and have volunteered as assist swim instructors to gain experience when ever we could. We love the water and spend time as a family scuba diving, swimming and boating.
COVID – 19 Safety Plan for Rocky Mountain Swim Lessons
Rocky Mountain Swim Lessons is committed to the health and safety of our employees and participants. Following is an outline of the safety measures we have put in place during this time.
General Lesson Guidelines
1. All Lessons will be private or semi private. This ensures we can maintain physical distancing while delivering a quality program.
2. During discussions on land and water safety briefings, 2 metre physical distancing will be maintained.
3. Registration for lessons will be electronic only
4. Payment for Lessons will be via e-transfer only
5. Report cards will not be collected. Report card inserts will be completed when requested.
6. When required, blue cones will mark the designated meeting place. Place your belongings on your towel.
7. All personal items like goggles, hats and towels are for personal use only. Please do not share unless it is with your immediate family.
8. Please use the bathroom at home before meeting us for lessons
9. Please have sunscreen applied before arriving
10. A list of COVID 10 signs and symptoms will be included with confirmation of your lessons.
Lesson Plans
1. Participants and parents/guardians will meet the instructor(s) at the designated time and place
2. Swimmers will be told the importance of not spitting, urinating or blowing their nose in the water. These actions are prohibited.
3. When arriving each day, participants are required to use hand sanitizer
4. A parent/guardian is required to stay during the lesson
5. At the beginning of each lesson, a health history questionnaire will be asked to assess the risk of the participants having COVID 19. You may be asked to stay home or seek medical attention if COVID 19 is suspected.
Equipment
1 Each employee will have their own equipment needed for each lesson
2 All employees will be provided with the appropriate PPE for the work being performed.
3 Equipment will be cleaned and sanitized between users with hard surface disinfectants
4 Sharing equipment will be avoided as much as possible; any shared equipment will be disinfected before re-use.
5 Personal items brought in by staff and swimmers should be kept to a minimum and stored 2 metres apart during lessons
Staff Training
1. Staff will be screened for symptoms and be unable to work upon presentation of COVID 19 Symptoms
2. All staff will be trained in accordance to the BC Centre for Disease Control.
3. When possible, staff training and communications will be carried out through online platforms.
4. Daily check-ins with participants before lessons begin to complete health check and inform swimmers that they may not participate if they are suspected of having COVID 19 symptoms, and to remind swimmers to avoid putting their unwashed hands to their eyes, nose or mouth.
5. Disposable gloves will be provided and worn when sanitizing equipment between lessons
